Unique Themed Rooms

Boutique Hotel The Craftsmen offers 14 uniquely themed rooms, each celebrating Dutch historical crafts. The Boat Builder room features a vintage folding canoe as a ceiling lamp and a boat-shaped bathtub. The Blacksmith room includes a wardrobe made from an emergency exit door of a Fokker F28 jet airliner. The Clockmaker room displays a 200kg brass mantelpiece lined with historic clocks. All rooms include high-speed Wi-Fi, smart TVs, and individual air conditioning. Some rooms, like The Artist, have private street entrances.

Craftsmen Kitchen

The Craftsmen Kitchen, located next to the hotel, serves gourmet sandwiches and freshly made coffee. Options include the Boneless Ribs sandwich for meat lovers and Vegan Filet American for plant-based diets. Breakfast is served in the Gallery, featuring freshly baked bread, cold cuts, fruit, and Nespresso coffee. In the evening, the Gallery offers beer, wine, and Dutch genever.

Central Amsterdam Location

The hotel is on Singel Canal, a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station. Nearby landmarks include the Anne Frank House (1 km), the Royal Palace (800 m), and the 9 Streets shopping district. Tram lines 2 and 17 stop at Nieuwezijds Kolk, a 3-minute walk away. Schiphol Airport is 20 km from the hotel, accessible via direct train to Central Station.

Artisan Design Details

The hotel's design incorporates reclaimed materials, such as aluminum shoe-stretchers repurposed as reading lights. Original 17th-century features include Delft blue tiles, parquet floors, and a spiral staircase. The Gallery, the hotel's public space, has leather armchairs and workbench tables facing the canal. Each room's theme is reflected in custom furniture, like millstones as nightstands in The Miller room.

Family and Accessibility

The Blacksmith Family Room sleeps four, with a king-size bed and two singles connected by an iron spiral staircase. Children over 7 are welcome. The hotel has an elevator and allows assistance dogs. Smoking is prohibited, with fines up to €250 for violations. Staff provide tailored recommendations for local dining and attractions.

“This boutique hotel stands out with its individually designed rooms, each a tribute to Dutch craftsmanship. The canal-side location is superb, placing guests within easy reach of Amsterdam's main attractions. I especially appreciate the personalized service, with staff going above and beyond to create a memorable stay.”

The Craftsmen is widely appreciated for its unique, craftsman-themed rooms, each showcasing meticulous attention to detail. Many guests enjoyed canal views from rooms like the Artist Room, some of which feature multiple floors and authentic, high windows. The hotel's location is ideal, being within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal and close to attractions like Jordaan and the Red Light District; some guests have noted that the building is relatively compact.
